Pay Range: $43.55 - $66.88 per hour

Summary

The principal role of the Nurse Clinician III is to coordinate patient care activities for the Fetal and Neonatal Medicine Center (FNMC). The Nurse Clinician III supports the daily activities of the department which includes coordination of family conferences, patient education and counseling, support of administrative functions and communication with patients, patients' families, and hospital staff during the prenatal period, while patient is hospitalized and after patient discharge. Required Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Master’s degree in Nursing required.
  • Current State of Illinois RN licensure required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • At least two years of registered nurse experience required.
  • Mature and flexible, with critical thinking skills. Works well independently.
  • Efficient, detail oriented.
  • Demonstrates strong organization, interpersonal, writing, and oral presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in a complex clinical system or program.
  • Proficiency with the MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains an individual caseload of patients.
  • Responsible for coordination of services across specialties during the patient's prenatal care, hospitalization, and after discharge.
  • Facilitates the referral process from established and new physician care providers, conduct an assessment of needs, and prioritize requested services.
  • Obtains necessary physician orders and medical records to establish continuity of care.
  • Initiates testing as ordered by the provider and follow up with testing recommended by the receiving physician.
  • Meets with the patient to counsel patient and family on options, serve as a resource for questions, and to educate and familiarize patient and family.
  • Assists patients in the scheduling of essential appointments including: scheduling family care conferences with the multidisciplinary team, scheduling of outpatient tests, and rounding with specialties during inpatient stays.
  • Participates collaboratively in the development of the care plan and communicate plans to the in-patient units. Communicates relevant results to referring providers and document activities.
  • Assesses the patient's psycho-social, cultural, and spiritual needs and make appropriate referrals as needed.

  • Supports/participates in research related activities including data collection, grant and IRB protocols (submittals, budgets and abstracts).
  • Participates in FNMC sponsored educational activities.
  • May be required to travel to outreach locations and participate with call responsibilities.
